Copy the embed code and paste it into your website — WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, or anywhere that accepts an iframe.

Keep your Shoutbox ID safe. If you want the same shoutbox on multiple pages of your site, use the same embed code. Each unique ID is a separate independent shoutbox.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it genuinely real-time?
Yes — the shoutbox polls for new messages every 8 seconds automatically, so all visitors see the same messages within seconds of them being posted. No page refresh needed.
What happens if someone spams it?
Rate limiting kicks in at 20 messages per hour per IP address, with a 15-second cooldown between each post. Enable moderation mode if you want manual control over what appears.
Can I moderate messages?
Yes — enable the Moderation toggle before generating. All messages will be held in a queue until you approve them from the Calcify admin panel under Widgets → Shoutbox.
What if I lose my embed code?
Your shoutbox ID is shown in the embed code itself. As long as you have that ID, the same box and all its messages can be accessed. Keep a copy of your embed code somewhere safe.
How long are messages kept?
Messages are kept up to the limit you set (20 by default). When the box is full, the oldest message is removed when a new one is added. Boxes with no activity for 90 days are automatically deleted.
Can I have multiple shoutboxes?
Yes — each time you click Generate you get a new unique box. Embed different codes on different pages for separate independent shoutboxes.
